A New Place to Belong: The Golden Club Social Adult Day Care in Whitehouse Station
Hunterdon County Chamber celebrates a senior day club built on connection, purpose and peace of mind
Loneliness is one of the quietest threats older adults face. The Golden Club is answering it. The Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce commemorated the club’s ribbon cutting and open house at 431 U.S. Route 22 in Whitehouse Station.
At The Golden Club, the day doesn’t just pass. It fills up with laughter at the game table, a paintbrush in hand, music in the room, an exercise class, a lively talk or a trip somewhere new. Members don’t just show up. They make friends, find new passions and get back something that is easy to lose with age: a reason to look forward to tomorrow.
The club also welcomes people living with early to moderate dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and other memory challenges. They get the patience, dignity and engagement they deserve. Their families and caregivers get something just as precious: the confidence that someone they love is safe, cared for and enjoying the day.
The owner, Chitra Sabapathi is passionate about the what the club has set out to accomplish. “Serving older adults has always been a personal calling of mine, as seniors are all too often an underserved segment of our society. These seniors spent their lives building careers, raising families, and enriching our communities in their own unique ways. Now, as life comes full circle, it is our privilege to step up and give back to them." She says, “the club offers a safe and secure space where members can refresh and engage their mental energy, recharge and connect with peers, build self-confidence, and discover a lasting sense of purpose and belonging. We are dedicated to providing a deeply personal, family-centered level of care for every member.” She adds that “the familial environment allows the members to naturally settle in and find their comfort space.”
“The Golden Club represents the kind of business that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals, families, and our entire community,” said Christopher J. Phelan, President of the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce. “A strong community is one that supports people at every stage of life. By creating a place where seniors can remain socially connected, enjoy meaningful activities, and feel welcomed and valued, The Golden Club is helping enhance the quality of life in Hunterdon County.”
“The value of a business is measured not only by the services it provides, but also by the positive impact it has on the people it serves,” Phelan added. “The Golden Club is addressing an important need for older adults and their families. We are proud to welcome and recognize businesses like this that combine entrepreneurship with compassion and a genuine commitment to the community.”
Every new business that opens in Hunterdon County is an investment in its future. The Chamber stands behind those businesses from day one. It opens doors, builds relationships and gives them the support they need to grow.
“The Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce is proud to serve as the Voice of Business throughout our county,” Phelan said. “Every ribbon cutting is an opportunity to celebrate a business investment, introduce a valuable service to the community, and build relationships that get results. We congratulate The Golden Club on its work and encourage residents and families to learn more about the programs and opportunities it offers.
