The Pine Barrens is a unique ecosystem characterized by its acidic, low-nutrient water and soil. So distinctive is this area that it was designated an International Biosphere Reserve in 1988. The Franklin Parker Preserve provides an excellent 6-mile route to experience its natural beauty. Along the way, you'll traverse through wetlands, open meadows, cranberry bogs and blueberry fields. Discover the wonders of the Pine Barrens with Naturalist Debra Reed as your guide. Embark on a captivating journey through this unique ecosystem and gain a deeper appreciation for its natural beauty. Lunch will be on the trail, please bring a daypack with water and lunch. There is a portable restroom at the trailhead.
