Turtle Back Zoo is part of Essex County’s South Mountain Reservation. Turtle Back Zoo has more than 15 exciting animal exhibits for the whole family to enjoy. Plan your day around your favorite animals. Turtle Back Zoo offers adventure beyond the animals with Turtle Back Junction, the zoo’s miniature train ride. The short ride takes visitors through the beautiful South Mountain Reservation free of charge. Join us for a day filled with animals, excitement, and adventure. Lunch is available for purchase at the café or you can bring a bagged lunch.
