Shapes in Nature Junior Girl Scout Badge

Ages: 8 to 12 years with adult

Instructor: Laura Bush, Principal Park Naturalist 

Math is everywhere in nature! From spirals in flowers and pinecones to the mirror images of butterfly wings, nature is beautiful and intricate. This program will include an indoor component followed by a hike to look for nature’s designs. We will discuss symmetry, fractals, and the Fibonacci sequence. This program is designed around the Junior Girl Scout badge Shapes in Nature, but is open to anyone interested in learning about these topics!
