SUMMARY:Healthy Hunterdon: Caring for the Caregiver
DESCRIPTION:In recognition of Healthy Aging Month\, NightingaleNJ will explore one of the most important\, yet often overlooked\, aspects of caregiving: caring for the caregiver. While caregivers naturally place the needs of others first\, self-care is not a luxury it is essential to providing sustainable\, compassionate care. As caregivers\, we often focus on everyone else and forget to care for ourselves and how important it is to care for ourselves. This is NOT a luxury.Together\, we will discuss the emotional and practical realities of caregiving\, including how to recognize early signs of burnout\, when to ask for help\, and where to find trusted resources. Using NightingaleNJ's Mature Life Compass as a guide\, we will share practical strategies to help caregivers feel more supported\, informed\, and prepared for the road ahead.Susan Lang-Saponara\, R.D.\, registered dietician from ShopRite of Flemington\, will also share nourishing foods\, easy-to-make healthy snacks\, and practical nutrition tips that can help support your energy and well-being while caring for others.Dedicating 45 minutes a day to our own physical health by working out can be a game changer\, not only for our physical health\, but also mentally and emotionally. In turn\, this has a ripple effect on everyone involved in our lives\, including the individual(s) we are caring for. The Max Challenge of Hunterdon will share an overview of their program and how their unique program offers not only an incredible workout in only 45 minutes per day\, but also provides a community of support for each member. When caregivers are supported\, everyone benefits. Our hope is that attendees leave with greater confidence\, practical tools\, and the reassurance that they do not have to navigate the caregiving journey alone.
